WNOR Luau Battle of the Band Contest 2014 Rules
How to enter and participate
One band member will enter their band for an opportunity to be the opening band at Lunatic Luau 14 on 5/2/14 at Farm Bureau Live at Virginia Beach. Band member needs to enter band on fm99.com between 3/3/14 at 12am and 3/16/14 at 11:59p by filling out the form and submitting a band photo or graphic and a link (URL) to their original music. One entry per band. All band members must be 18 or older with ID. WNOR has the final say of what content is appropriate for the website. Entries containing inappropriate photos or music will be disqualified. Any photograph submitted to WNOR become property of WNOR and may be used in any manner we feel appropriate in the future. A panel of judges and/or FM99 staff will review all submissions and approve bands to move on to the voting round. Bands will be approved based upon musicianship and originality. Some bands may not be approved to move on to the voting round of the contest. The decision of the judges is final.
Voting period will be from 3/17/14 at 9:30am through 3/23/14 at 11:59pm. Voters must be registered members of UPICKEM. Voters may vote up to once per day.

The extent, nature and value of the prizes
Band wins opportunity to be the opening band on the side stage at FM99 Lunatic Luau 14 on 5/2/14. Winning band also receives 10 lawn tickets to Lunatic
Basis for valuation of the prizes
The prize being awarded has no monetary value as the winning band will not be compensated for their performance at the Lunatic Luau. Ticket price per ticketmaster.com.
Time and means of selection of winner (and/or tie breaking procedures)
A panel of judges and/or FM99 staff will review all submissions and choose 9 bands based upon listener votes and the band’s musicianship and originality to compete in one of three live “Lunatic Luau Battle of the Bands” preliminary concerts at Big Woody’s Bar & Grill, 4200 Portsmouth Blvd., Chesapeake, VA 23321. These 9 bands will be notified by phone 3/26/14. The decision of the judges is final.
These preliminary concerts will take place on 4/2/14, 4/9/14, and 4/16/14 starting at 9pm. The 9 bands will be assigned a date by FM99. 3 bands will play per date and be randomly assigned a set time. At each of the 3 preliminary concerts, after all of the bands have played, one band will be chosen as a “finalist” by a panel of judges and be invited to play the “Lunatic Luau Battle of the Bands Finale Concert” on 4/23/14 at 9pm at Big Woody’s Bar & Grill, 4200 Portsmouth Blvd., Chesapeake, VA 23321. The “finalist” will be determined by a panel of judges based upon stage presence, crowd reaction, originality, and musicianship. The decision of the judges is final. In case of a tie, a random drawing will be held to determine the winner. The “finalists” will be announced on April 3, 10, 17 and will be contacted by phone on those days.
The 3 “finalists” chosen to play at the finale concert on 4/23/14 will be randomly assigned a set time by FM99 staff. After all the bands have played, the winner will be determined by a panel of judges based upon stage presence, crowd reaction, originality, and musicianship. The decision of the judges is final. In case of a tie, a random drawing will be held to determine the winner. The winning band will be announced on the air and notified by phone on 4/24/14 and be invited to play at FM99 Lunatic Luau 14 at Farm Bureau Live at Virginia Beach on 5/2/14 (set time to be determined by Live Nation, promoter of Lunatic Luau). In addition, the winning band will receive 10 lawn tickets to Lunatic Luau 14.
Eligibility restrictions
All general WNOR contest rules apply and can be viewed at FM99.com. WNOR contests are open to all eligible residents 18 or older who live or work within 75 miles from our offices and who have not won anything on WNOR in the past 30 days or any prize valued at $600 or more in the past 6 months. Only one winner per household is permitted within 30 days after a household has a winner. Any prize awarded to an ineligible listener will be deemed null and void, and an alternate eligible winner may be named. Employees of WNOR, Tidewater Communications, LLC, and its ultimate parent company, Saga Communications, Inc., their advertising agencies, affiliates, contest sponsors, employees and immediate families of each, and employees of all media of mass communication within a one hundred mile radius of the WNOR main studio are not eligible to win any contest. Immediate family includes the spouse, great-grandparents, grandparents, parents, brothers, sisters, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of the employee and his/her spouse. This also includes individuals for whom the employee is current legal guardian.
When prizes can be awarded
Band will perform at the Lunatic Luau at Farm Bureau Live at Virginia Beach on May 2nd, 2014. Tickets will be given to band the week of 4/28/14.
No purchase necessary. One valid entry per contestant.
You must be 18 years of age or older at time of entry to be eligible for this contest. This contest is void where prohibited by law.
Winners will be notified by email. If a winner is unreachable after seven (7) days, or if that winner is unavailable for prize fulfillment, an alternate winner will be selected. If fm99 cannot find an eligible winner for the prize, that prize will not be awarded.
Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received.
Automated voting of any kind is not allowed. Detection of said automated voting will lead to votes being voided.
Only one registered account per voter. If multiple accounts are detected for a single voter, they will be disabled and votes disqualified.
fm99 reserves the right to substitute any prize with another prize of equal or greater value.
fm99 reserves the right to restrict the local winners to only persons whose primary residence is within a 60 mile radius of the affiliate's' office.
Employees of fm99, its respective parent, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising sponsors and promotional agencies, and the immediate family members of each are not eligible.
Contest entrants agree to abide by the terms of these Official Rules and by the decisions of the contest commissioners, which are final on all matters pertaining to the contest.
Entrants further grant to fm99 the right to use and publish their proper name and state online and in print, or any other media, in connection with the Contest.
fm99 reserves the right to use any and all information related to the Contest, including information on contestants obtained through the contest, for marketing purposes or any other purpose, unless prohibited by law.
The Contest and all of the related pages, contents and code are copyright, UPICKEM, and/or fm99. Copying or unauthorized use of any copyrighted materials, trademarks or any other intellectual property without the express written consent of its owner is strictly prohibited.
Each winner, by acceptance of the prize, agrees to release all Sponsors, and their parent and subsidiary companies, their officers, directors, employees, agents, shareholders, affiliates, suppliers, distributors, and advertising agencies from all liability, claims, or actions of any kind whatsoever for injuries, damages, or losses to persons and property which may be sustained in connection with the receipt, ownership, or use of the prize.
UPICKEM and fm99 are not responsible for Internet crashes or slowdowns caused by network congestion, viruses, sabotage, satellite failures, phone line failures, electrical outages, natural disasters or acts of man or God.
All results posted are unofficial until winners respond to e-mail notification.
Each winner is responsible for all federal, state and local taxes and will be required to complete an IRS form W-9. Sponsor reserves the right to withhold prizes until completed form W-9 is received.
This contest is not intended for gambling. If it is determined that a contestant is using the contest for gambling purposes they will be disqualified and reported to authorities.
fm99 reserves the right to change the rules at any time.
