Official Rules
 

1. TO ENTER “FM99’s Rock Girl Search”:

a. Prospective entrants must enter online beginning May 27, 2014 at on FM99.com. By entering at FM99.com, entrants will be asked to provide:

  1. First & last name
  2. Date of birth
  3. Current city of residence
  4. Day-time phone number
  5. A current photo of yourself that becomes property of FM99

 

If unable to enter online, candidate may come to the WNOR studios from 9am to 5pm, Monday through Friday, to complete the required paperwork. Deadline to enter in person is June 27, 2014 at 5pm.

 

As the submissions are received, entrants may be asked to appear at the FM99 studios to complete an application, show photo identification (contestants must be 21 years of age), record scripted and improvised audio, have their photo taken and be prepared with an approximate 60-second description as to why FM99 listeners should vote for them to be the 2014 FM99 Rock Girl. This 60-second description will be videotaped. All photos and footage recorded and videotapes become the property of FM99 WNOR. The deadline to enter is June 29, 2014 at 11:59pm.

 

b. In the event a prospective entrant does not have internet access, she may fill out an application at the FM99 studio, 870 Greenbrier Circle, Suite 399, Chesapeake, VA 23320,  between 9am and 5pm 5/27/14 – 6/29/14. Prospective entrant must bring photo ID and 2 current photos that become the property of FM99 (photocopies or printouts of photos will be accepted).

 

2. JUDGING:

 

There will be four rounds of judging.

 

a. Round One judging will be completed by representatives of FM99 WNOR. They will review all of the entrants and choose the contestants who will go on to Round Two. Those contestants will be announced on July 2, 2014. Judging criteria is as follows:

 

  1. 50% Resume
  2. 50% Presentation

 

 

b. Round Two judging will be completed by FM99 management with input from FM99 listeners. Judging criteria is as follows:

 

  1. 25% Personality
  2. 25% Presentation
  3. 25% Popularity
  4. 25% Speaking ability

 

The contestants will make appearances at “Rock Girl Road Shows” between 7/5/14 and 7/20/14. Listeners will be invited to these events to meet and interact with the contestants. Listeners will vote at www.fm99.com or text a shortcode to 77000 for the entrants they deem to be most fit to be FM99 Rock Girl.

 

i. Online voting: listeners may vote on FM99.com from July 2, 2014 at 5pm through July 20, 2014 at 11:59pm. Each listener may only vote online once per contestant per day during this voting period.

 

ii. Text voting: Listeners may vote for their favorite Rock Girl via text. Voting will take place from July 2, 2014 at 5pm through July 20, 2014 at 11:59pm. Each finalist will have an equal opportunity to be voted on and will be designated with a certain text code that represents them once they have been selected. FM99 reserves the right to lengthen or shorten the voting time period. Each listener may only text one vote per contestant per day during this voting period.

 

c. Round Three judging will be completed by FM99 management with input from FM99 listeners. Judging criteria is as follows:

 

  1. 25% Personality
  2. 25% Presentation
  3. 25% Popularity
  4. 25% Speaking ability

 

Up to 15 entrants will be qualified for Round Three judging.  Finalists will be announced on July 22, 2014. The contestants will make appearances at “Rock Girl Road Shows” between 7/25/14 and 8/17/14. Listeners will be invited to these events to meet and interact with the contestants. Listeners will vote at www.fm99.com or text a shortcode to 77000 for the entrants they deem to be most fit to be FM99 Rock Girl.

 

i. Online voting: listeners may vote on FM99.com from 7/22/14 at 12pm through 8/17/14 at 11:59pm. Each listener may only vote online once per contestant per day during this voting period.

 

ii. Text voting: Listeners may vote for their favorite Rock Girl via text. Voting will take place from 7/22/14 at 12pm through 8/17/14 at 11:59pm. Each finalist will have an equal opportunity to be voted on and will be designated with a certain text code that represents them once they have been selected. Each listener may only text one vote per contestant per day during this voting period.

 

CONTINUED CONSIDERATION IN THIS CONTEST ALSO REQUIRES THAT ENTRANTS PARTICIPATE IN THE FOLLOWING AFTER THE ENTRY IS SUBMITTED (FAILURE TO DO SO FOR ANY REASON MAY RESULT IN AUTOMATIC DISQUALIFICATION FROM THIS CONTEST, WITHOUT NOTICE TO ENTRANT):

All Finalists who have advanced to the next round will be required to attend a photo/video shoot with WNOR staff in order to be eligible to continue participation in this contest as a Finalist. Exact dates and times for photo sessions to be determined, but will take place on or about July 24 and July 25, time to be determined.


All photo/video sessions will be conducted at a “to be determined” location which will be announced as soon as it is confirmed. Each Finalist will be scheduled by WNOR to attend one photo/video session.  Station will use reasonable efforts to attempt to contact Finalists to inform them of which of the days/times she is scheduled for.  WNOR will take an official “Rock Girl Finalist” photograph and video of each Entrant.  All photos become the property of FM99 WNOR.  It is the sole responsibility of the entrant to attend and failure to have this photo and video taken by WNOR for any reason may result in automatic disqualification. 

WNOR has no responsibility or liability for waiting time, delays or if the photo shoot end before a particular waiting entrant has had her photo taken. 

 

All Finalists who have advanced to the next round may be also required to attend an interview conducted at the WNOR offices, 870 Greenbrier Circle, Suite 399, Chesapeake VA 23320. The interview will happen during the week of August 11 (exact dates and times to be determined). Each Finalist will be scheduled by WNOR to attend at a specific time.  Station will use reasonable efforts to attempt to contact Finalists to inform them what time she is scheduled for.  It is the sole responsibility of the entrant to attend and failure to do this interview for any reason may result in automatic disqualification. 

 

WNOR has no responsibility or liability for waiting time or delays.

 

d. Round Four judging will be completed by FM99 management with input from FM99 listeners. Judging criteria is as follows:

 

  1. 25% Personality
  2. 25% Presentation
  3. 25% Popularity
  4. 25% Speaking ability

 

Up to 8 entrants will be qualified for Round Four judging and will be announced on 8/19/14. The contestants will make appearances at “Rock Girl Road Shows” between 8/21/14 and 8/31/14. Listeners will vote at www.fm99.com or text a shortcode to 77000 for the entrants they deem to be most fit to be FM99 Rock Girl.

 

i. Online voting: listeners may vote on FM99.com from 8/19/14 at 10am through 8/31/14 at 11:59pm. Each listener may only vote online once per contestant per day during this voting period.

 

ii. Text voting: Listeners may vote for their favorite Rock Girl via text. Voting will take place from 8/19/14 at 10am through 8/31/14 at 11:59pm. Each finalist will have an equal opportunity to be voted on and will be designated with a certain text code that represents them once they have been selected. Each listener may only text one vote per contestant per day during this voting period.

 

All Finalists who have advanced to the next round will be required to attend a photo/video shoot with WNOR staff in order to be eligible to continue participation in this contest as a Finalist. WNOR has no responsibility or liability for waiting time, delays or if the photo shoot end before a particular waiting entrant has had her photo taken. 

 

All Finalists may be required to attend a final interview with WNOR management on August 26, 27, and/or 28. Each Finalist will be scheduled by WNOR to attend at a specific time.  Station will use reasonable efforts to attempt to contact Finalists to inform them what time she is scheduled for.  It is the sole responsibility of the entrant to attend and failure to do this interview for any reason may result in automatic disqualification. 

WNOR has no responsibility or liability for waiting time or delays.

 

e. The Finale
The FM99 Rock Girl Finale will be on Wednesday, 9/3/14 at 7pm at the Funny Bone Comedy Club and Restaurant, 217 Central Park Ave., Virginia Beach. All Finalists must be present and checked-in with a WNOR representative by 5:00pm to participate in the Finale competition.

In order to be properly registered to participate in the Finale competition, each Finalist will be required to complete and sign a 2014 FM99 WNOR Rock Girl Agreement and must sign a liability release and publicity rights release agreement, present a valid Virginia or North Carolina Drivers License or Virginia or North Carolina state identification card to evidence eligibility, and complete any other paperwork required by WNOR.

During the Finale, the Rock Girl finalists may be asked to answer questions, wear different outfits including a bikini, dress, Rock Girl apparel, etc. and participate in skits and/or games. The pageant is the last opportunity to impress the judges.


A panel of judges will select 1 Finalist as the grand prize winner based on any lawful criteria that they deem desirable.  Judges may be employees of WNOR or invited guests of WNOR.  Each judge will vote according to personal taste and lawful criteria in their sole discretion. The judges’ decisions shall be final and non-appealable. 

The winner will be announced live at the Finale event after the end of the competition.

3. ELIGIBILITY.

 

All Tidewater Communications, LLC contest rules apply unless otherwise specified within the official WNOR Rock Girl Rules.  Open to legal residents of the WNOR listening area (as defined in our General Contest Rules) 21 years and older who maintain a valid driver’s license and personal vehicle insurance.  Professional radio personalities (persons who have been paid for their on-air performance in the past year) are not eligible. All employees of Tidewater Communications, LLC, Saga Communications, Inc., as well as their affiliates,  subsidiaries, and successor companies, advertising and promotion agencies, or employees of other radio stations, and the immediate families and household members of each, are not eligible. “Immediate family members” shall include spouses, siblings, parents, children, grandparents, and grandchildren, whether as “in-laws”, or by current or past marriage, remarriage, adoption, co-habitation or other familial extension, and any other persons residing at the same household location, whether or not related. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any entrant at any time in its sole discretion. Entrants who provide any false information with respect to employment history, background, or other credentials, may be immediately disqualified or, if already hired, immediately terminated.

 


4. PRIZE:

Winner will be hired as FM99 Rock Girl for an estimated one-year engagement (September 15, 2014 through September 14, 2015) and will be entitled to an annual cash/prize salary of a minimum of $29,220.  $10,000 of this prize package is in the form of cash which will be payable in accordance with WNOR’s regular payroll policy.  Employment taxes and withholding shall be deducted from winner’s paychecks consistent with WNOR’s standard payroll practices.

 

The remaining grand prize value will be awarded in the form of the following:

  1. Concert tickets, movie passes, event tickets, and other misc. prizes from WNOR (value: $2000)(awarded as they happen)
  2. Professional headshots and portfolio from Hot Mess Photography ($3600 value) (photo shoots ongoing throughout the year)
  3. Gift basket and/or accessories from Mutherockers.com (Value $250) (awarded February 2015)
  4. A pair of tickets each week for a year (52 pairs) to the Funny Bone Comedy Club and Restaurant (Value: $3120) (awarded September 2014)
  5. Dinner cruise for winner and 6 guests aboard Spirit of Norfolk (Value: $600) (awarded December 2014)
  6. Slumber Parties by Samantha K gift basket (Value: $500) (awarded April 2015)

  11. 3 Sessions of 45 minute teeth whitening ($300 value) and 1 year of Light Therapy 1 time per week for 52 weeks of fat reduction, blasts cellulite, improves tone and texture of your skin.  Preventative treatment for wrinkles, blood circulation and enhances metabolic rate ($6,000 value) at Elysian Wellness and Day Spa. Total prize value: $6300 (awarded September 2014)
  12. $1,000 gift card to Platinum Salon (awarded asfour $250 gift cards. One given in October, one in January, one in April, and one in July)
  13. One year membership to One Life Fitness (Value: $650) (awarded September 2014)

 

Total Value: $19,870 in prizes

 

In addition, the Rock Girl will be able to drive a 2011 Jeep Unlimited courtesy of Mike Duman Auto to and from various station events (pending winner’s driving record).

Winner must be available to participate in station activities a maximum of 25 hours per week (duties as required and assigned by Sponsor), and be willing to travel around FM99 WNOR listening area and to other destinations as determined by Sponsor. Winner must be available to work non-traditional hours including nights and weekends. Winner must be willing to appear at different venues and types of promotions including but not limited to concerts, bars, nightclubs, retail locations and more. Winner must be willing to dress in appropriate apparel for station events. No prize substitution or cash redemption allowed by winner.

Prize is not transferable. Winner will be subject to all employment policies of FM99 WNOR. These contest rules do not modify Winner’s employment-at-will relationship. Sponsor and Winner are free to terminate the employment relationship at any time, and the remaining salary and prizes will be forfeited. Sponsor shall have all rights to copy, edit, broadcast, publish and use, in whole or in part, any materials featuring entrants, in any manner without compensation.

Winner will be required to execute an Employment Agreement, Affidavit and Publicity/Liability Release or prize will be forfeited. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute prize with similar prize of equal or greater value for any reason. In the event the winner is not available or cannot otherwise fulfill the duties of FM99 Rock Girl, an alternative will be selected. Winner may not accept employment from Rock Girl sponsors or their competitors without approval from FM99. Failure to do so could result in Winner being stripped of title. 5. MISC:

By submitting a Rock Girl application, entrant agrees to be bound by these Official Rules. Entrants agree to submit to a background check. Entrants will be required to furnish a driving record from DMV. Entrants represent and affirm that they owe no conflicting obligations under contract or otherwise that would interfere with their performance if chosen to be FM99 Rock Girl. Winner must provide satisfactory references and proof of identification and work authorization as required by the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986. Entry constitutes permission to use entrant’s name and likeness for purposes of conducting the contest and for publicity purposes without compensation. FM99 WNOR, Tidewater Communications, LLC, Saga Communications, Inc., their subsidiaries and affiliates, their officers, directors, agents, stockholders, insurers, and employees, and their advertising and promotional agencies and sponsors assume no responsibility or liability whatsoever for damages, loss or injury resulting from participating in any contest or acceptance or use of the prize (s). In consideration of participation in the contest, and for other good and valuable consideration, the receipt and sufficiency of which are hereby acknowledged, the entrant, on entrant’s behalf, and on behalf of entrant’s heirs, successors or assigns, administrators and personal representatives, does hereby COVENANT NOT TO SUE,  FULLY RELEASE AND FOREVER DISCHARGE (i) FM99 WNOR, (ii) Tidewater Communications, Inc., (iii) Saga Communications, Inc., and each of their respective direct and indirect subsidiaries, affiliates, partners and related entities, (iv) each of their respective directors, officers, employees, agents, insurers, attorneys, shareholders and representatives, and (v) each predecessor, successor, and assign thereof, from and against any and all actions, charges, claims, losses, costs, damages, expenses (including attorneys’ fees and expenses) and liabilities of any kind or character, whether known or unknown, in connection with, arising out of or in any way related to entrant’s participation in the contest.  Any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of or connected with this contest, or any prize awarded, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by arbitration. Claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of- pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering this contest, but in no event attorney's fees. Offer void where prohibited and subject to federal, state and local laws. Decisions of the contest judges are final and binding in all respects. Odds of winning depend on the number of qualified entrants and skills of same. All of Tidewater Communications’ general contest rules also apply to this promotion. Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to supplement or make changes to the rules of any contest at any time without notice. Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to interpret the rules of any contest, and such interpretation shall be binding upon all participants.
