WNOR Luau Battle of the Band Contest 2017

One band member will enter their band for an opportunity to be the opening band at Lunatic Luau 17 on 5/5/17 at Veterans United Home Loans Amphitheater at Virginia Beach. Band member needs to log on to FM99.com between 3/6/17 at 12:00am and 3/19/17 at 11:59p and fill out the form and submit a band photo or graphic and a link (URL) to their original music. One entry per band. All band members must be 18 or older with ID. Band must be able to perform a full set (approximately 30 minutes) of all original material. WNOR has the final say of what content is appropriate for the website. Entries containing inappropriate photos or music will be disqualified. Any photograph submitted to WNOR will become the property of WNOR and may be used in any manner it feels appropriate in the future. WNOR staff will review all submissions and approve bands to move on to the voting round. Bands will be approved based upon musicianship, originality, and any other factors WNOR staff wish to consider. Some bands may not be approved to move on to the voting round of the contest. The decision of the judges is final.

Voting period will be from 3/20/17 at 10:00am through 3/28/17 at 11:59pm. Listeners can vote once per day during the voting round.  Voting is limited to one vote per verified email address.  If an entrant receives irregular votes from the same user or users, including but not limited to, votes generated by a robotic, programmed, script, macro, other automated means or other source, WNOR reserves the right to disqualify the entrant in its sole discretion.

A panel of WNOR staff will review all submissions and choose 9 bands based upon listener votes and the band’s musicianship and originality (along with any other factors WNOR wishes to consider) to compete in one of three live “Lunatic Luau Battle of the Bands” preliminary concerts at Big Woody’s Bar & Grill, 4200 Portsmouth Blvd., Chesapeake, VA 23321. These 9 bands will be notified by phone 3/29/17 during regular business hours.  The decision of the judges is final.

These preliminary concerts will take place on 4/5/17, 4/12/17, and 4/19/17 starting at approximately 9pm. The 9 bands will be assigned a date by WNOR, which is final and may not be changed or swapped with another band. 3 bands will play per date and be randomly assigned a set time. At each of the 3 preliminary concerts, after all of the bands have played, one band will be chosen as a “finalist” by WNOR staff and be invited to play the “Lunatic Luau Battle of the Bands Finale Concert” on 4/26/17 at 9pm at Big Woody’s Bar & Grill. The “finalist” will be determined by WNOR Staff based upon stage presence, crowd reaction, originality, and musicianship. The decision of the judges is final. In case of a tie, a random drawing done by WNOR staff will be held to determine the winner. The “finalists” will be announced on April 6, 13, and 20 and will be contacted by phone on those days during regular business hours.

The 3 “finalists” chosen to play at the finale concert on 4/26/17 will be randomly assigned a set time by WNOR staff which is final and may not be swapped with another band. After all the bands have played, the winner will be determined by WNOR staff and/or invited judges based upon stage presence, crowd reaction, originality, musicianship,  and any other factors WNOR judges wish to consider. The decision of the judges is final. In case of a tie, a random drawing done by a WNOR staffer will be held to determine the winner. The winning band will be announced on the air and notified by phone on 4/27/17 and be invited to play at FM99 Lunatic Luau 17 at Veterans United Home Loans Amphitheater at Virginia Beach on 5/5/17 on the side stage from 2:50-3:10pm (set time subject to change without notice and is determined by Live Nation, promoter of Lunatic Luau). In addition, the winning band will receive 10 lawn tickets to Lunatic Luau 17 which will be given to band the week of 5/1/17 (total approximate retail value: $159.90). No purchase necessary. WNOR’s sole responsibility will be to award the prize and pick the winners for both the finalist rounds, as well as the ultimate prize winner. Winner will be responsible for any applicable federal and state taxes. Prizes are not transferrable or redeemable for cash.

WNOR contests are open to all eligible residents 18 or older who live or work within 75 miles from our transmitter. Any prize awarded to an ineligible listener will be deemed null and void, and an alternate eligible winner may be named. Employees of WNOR, Tidewater Communications, LLC, and its ultimate parent company, Saga Communications, Inc., their advertising agencies, affiliates, contest sponsors, employees and immediate families of each, and employees of all media of mass communication within a one hundred mile radius of the WNOR main studio are not eligible to win any contest.  Immediate family includes the spouse, great-grandparents, grandparents, parents, brothers, sisters, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of the employee and his/her spouse. This also includes individuals for whom the employee is current legal guardian.
