“Lunatic Luau Battle of the Bands” Contest Official Rules
1. FM99 WNOR’s “Lunatic Luau Battle of the Bands”” is an online and on site contest that will occur from 3/9/12 – 4/27/12 (hereinafter referred to as the “contest”) in which 1 local band will be chosen to play the FM99 Lunatic Luau 12 on 5/4/12 at Farm Bureau Live at Virginia Beach.
2. How to Enter:
A. This contest is open to all local bands who reside in the FM99 WNOR listening area (Hampton Roads and northeast North Carolina).
B. All band members must be 18 or older to be eligible.
C. One band member will enter on www.fm99.com between 3/9/12 and 4/1/12 at 11:59p by filling out the form. You will be asked to submit a band photo or graphic and a link (URL) to your material. By submitting a photo or graphic, you confirm that you own those images and there are no copyright violations.
D. FM99 reserves the right to reject any URL that contains material deemed inappropriate. All decisions made by FM99 staff and management are final.
E. All links submitted must be a link to an original songs or video. They cannot be cover songs. By submitting a song or video, you are confirming that it is an original song by your band and that you are not in violation of any copyright laws.
F. One entry per band.
G. Listeners may vote for their favorite band between 3/9/12 and 4/1/12 at 11:59p up to once per day. Listener votes will be taken into consideration when the judges are reviewing abdn submissions.
H. A celebrity panel of judges and FM99 staff will review all submissions and choose 9 bands based upon listener votes and the band’s musicianship and creativity to compete in one of three live “Lunatic Luau Battle of the Bands” preliminary concerts at Bullies Grill, 230 North Battlefield Boulevard, Chesapeake, VA 23320. These events will take place on 4/6/12, 4/13/12, and 4/20/12. The 9 bands will be assigned a date by FM99. 3 bands will play per date and be randomly assigned a set time.
I. At each of the 3 preliminary concerts, after all of the bands have played, one band will be chosen based upon audience reaction to play the “Lunatic Luau Battle of the Bands” Finale Concert on 4/27/12 at Bullies Grill, 230 North Battlefield Boulevard, Chesapeake, VA 23320. FM99 staff members will monitor audience reaction and will determine the winner based upon the band who garners the biggest reaction from the crowd. The decision of the FM99 staff members is final.
J. The 3 bands chosen to play at the finale concert on 4/27/12 will be randomly assigned a set time by FM99 staff. After all the bands have played, one band will be chosen based upon audience reaction to play FM99’s “Lunatic Luau Battle 12 – The Resurrection” at Farm Bureau Live at Virginia Beach on 5/4/12 (set time to be determined by FM99). FM99 staff members will monitor audience reaction and will determine the winner based upon the band who garners the biggest reaction from the crowd. The decision of the FM99 staff members is final.
K. Bands will not be compensated for their performance(s).
L. Bands chosen to play will be assigned a load-in time and a set time. Order of the bands will be chosen randomly. These times will be decided by FM99 after the judges have chosen the 9 bands who will take part in the preliminary concerts. Load-in and set times for the finale will be determined FM99 after the 3 finale bands have been determined. Order of the bands will be chosen randomly. All decisions regarding load-in and set times are final.
M. Sound and lights will be provided. Bands are required to provide their own backline.
GENERAL UPICKEM CONTEST RULES
No purchase necessary. One valid entry per contestant.
You must be 18 years of age or older at time of entry to be eligible for this contest. This contest is void where prohibited by law.
Automated voting of any kind is not allowed. Detection of said automated voting will lead to votes being voided.
Only one registered account per voter. If multiple accounts are detected for a single voter, they will be disabled and votes disqualified.
fm99 reserves the right to substitute any prize with another prize of equal or greater value.
fm99 reserves the right to restrict the local winners to only persons whose primary residence is within a 60 mile radius of the affiliate's' office.
Employees of fm99, its respective parent, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising sponsors and promotional agencies, and the immediate family members of each are not eligible.
Contest entrants agree to abide by the terms of these Official Rules and by the decisions of the contest commissioners, which are final on all matters pertaining to the contest.
Entrants further grant to fm99 the right to use and publish their proper name and state online and in print, or any other media, in connection with the Contest.
fm99 reserves the right to use any and all information related to the Contest, including information on contestants obtained through the contest, for marketing purposes or any other purpose, unless prohibited by law.
The Contest and all of the related pages, contents and code are copyright, UPICKEM, and/or fm99. Copying or unauthorized use of any copyrighted materials, trademarks or any other intellectual property without the express written consent of its owner is strictly prohibited.
Each winner, by acceptance of the prize, agrees to release all Sponsors, and their parent and subsidiary companies, their officers, directors, employees, agents, shareholders, affiliates, suppliers, distributors, and advertising agencies from all liability, claims, or actions of any kind whatsoever for injuries, damages, or losses to persons and property which may be sustained in connection with the receipt, ownership, or use of the prize.
UPICKEM and fm99 are not responsible for Internet crashes or slowdowns caused by network congestion, viruses, sabotage, satellite failures, phone line failures, electrical outages, natural disasters or acts of man or God.
This contest is not intended for gambling. If it is determined that a contestant is using the contest for gambling purposes they will be disqualified and reported to authorities.
fm99 reserves the right to change the rules at any time.
This contest is officially sponsored by fm99.
